VERSE
In my youth I grew up in a small town
Near the beach was a church on a hill
On Sunday we would go get blessed in our souls
'Twas there that our lives were filled
The Gospel was shared and people who cared
Gathered there saying prayers so bold
And those old fashioned ways are with me today
In my heart far more precious than gold

CHORUS
How I long, long to go
To the place I learned the Savior's will
How I yearn to some day return
To that old fashioned church in the city on the hill

VERSE
On that day we would dress all in our Sunday best
With a mood giving praise to Jesus' name
When the choir would sing the rafters would ring
Since then I've seldom heard the same
In the altar call opened up to all
Many came to take salvation free
The love for the word and following the Lord
Are things I'd like again to see

CHORUS

Way back then we would sing "That old rugged cross
Has a wondrous attraction for me"
Up there on the hill I hear the preacher still
Teaching from Psalm Twenty-three
And I'll not forget the Savior I met
The truth brought comfort to my soul
These visions to me bring fond memories
To that old fashioned church I want to go

CHORUS
